Mas des Micocouliers is located 15 minutes (by car) from the beaches and 2 minutes from the village centre of Montagnac.
The villages of Montpellier, Bezier, Sète and Cap d'Agde are all within 30 minutes of Mas des Micocouliers.
The numerous and varied activities offered in the region include recreational, sportive, touristic or cultural ones. Here are some examples :

The sea

Frontignan, Les Aresquiers, are located on the cap (cape) d'Agde, the coastline is like a succession of capes linked by long beaches with fine sand and striking sand dunes. Valras-plage is 25 minutes from Mas des Micocouliers. With its fishing port it offers an authentic Mediterranean village with its own charm for family activities (incorporating the large swimming pool) and other festivities throughout the year.


Sète, 20 minutes from Mas des Micocouliers
Known as the Venice of Languedoc is sited between the pond near Thau, the sea and the canals. It is one of the larger Mediterranean ports with long and beautiful beaches all around.
The Cap d'Agde is 20 minutes from Mas des Micocouliers. It has a large swimming pool capable of hosting thousands of holidaymakers. With its 14km of fine sandy beaches it offers tourists a beautiful palette of nautical activities in an enchanting environment.



Frontignan, 25 minutes from Mas des Micocouliers
It is one of the most beautiful and highly regarded and 'protected' areas of the region, mainly because its wild and rugged look and its kilometres of beaches offer a unique all year round environment.

The countryside


The Lac de Salagou, 15 minutes from Mas des Micocouliers
This lake is unique in France and is a known not only as a fisherman's paradise but also by water sports enthusiasts for water skiing and bathing (the average summer water temperature is 28°C), plus also for its walking and mountain biking, all in the natural outdoors.

The cirque de Navacel, 20 minutes from Mas des Micocouliers
This is the result of an incredible feat of nature with meandering circuitous canyon de la Vie, Its rather turbulent waters of the Herault are an incredible site to see.
St Gilhem-le-Désert is 25 minutes from Mas des Micocouliers : It is one of the most beautiful mediaeval villages in France. It is located on the road to St Jacques de Compostelle and hosts the Abbaye de Gellone, identified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Outside the village are some incredibly beautiful walks. The history, culture and beauty of this spot lure many visitors each year.
The Gorges de l'Hérault are 25 minutes from Mas des Micocouliers
All year it offers calm waters for swimming and kayaking and other water sports. It's grand gorges and waterways are generally discovered through water travel. You will pass the village of Laroque, under the bridge of Saint-Etienne d'Issensac (XVIIe), see the ladies grotto, devil's bridge and many other natural wonders...
The cirque de Mourèze is 20 minutes from Mas des Micocouliers
A forest of stones (the most well known in France) with strange forms, its gigantic columns stretching skywards make for a kind of lunar landscape. The mediaeval village of Mourèze merits a visit too.


The Canal du Midi is 20 minutes from Mas des Micocouliers
(Another UNESCO World Heritage Site)
Its borders of plane trees invite gentle bicycle rides and ambling walks alongside the riverbanks.

The Pays de Pézenas


Situated at the eastern river banks of the Mediterranean, on the banks of the Hérault River, the Pays de Pézenas is located at the heart of the Languedoc-Roussillon, mid way between the Coast Brava and the Côte d'Azur.
This region has a special place in the history of the ancient Kingdom of France, the Cathare civilisation, Moliere and more recently by the redevelopment of its coastline, the Pays de Pézenas benefits as a place apart with its own heritage and identity.
Detours off the nearby roads yield charming agriculture, quality wines and wine tasting, and historic Middle Age settlements. There are a lot of artisans with products offered for sale in small family-run and commercial shops all around the area.

Montagnac


Montagnac dates back to the VI century. Dominated by the chappelle of Notre Dame de la Peyriere, Montagnac has been "town" planned around this church and ramparts/wall. You can admire the beautiful church constructed between the XIIIth - XIVth centuries, with a clock tower stretching 54.50m high. Nearby in the tree-lined streets you can admire quite a few doorways and mansions dating back to the XVIth and XVIIth centuries. You will note the Griffe fountain, the door of the Gilibert House, the imposing portal of the Thémnes mansions dating back to 1587 and the Auberge Court, which is now the House of Culture, and of Patrimony
Today Montagnac is a village of 3000 inhabitants with its auberges around the esplanade of very old plane trees and the Grand'Rue. The village economy is organised around 2 main areas of activities :
- Wine growing (viticulture); Montagnac possesses the biggest community cooperative for wine making in Europe,
- Tourism; endorsed by its tourism office.
